At over 922,000 acres, roughly the size of Rhode Island, Olympic National Park is the 13th largest National Park in the US. Comprised of four distinct regions, coastal, alpine, temperate rainforest, and drier forest land Olympic NP offers a huge variety of subjects and locations for the nature photographer. President Theodore Roosevelt originally designated the park as Mount Olympus National Monument on March 2, 1909. The monument was re-designated a National Park on June 29, 1938. In 1976, Olympic National Park was designated by UNESCO as an International Biosphere Reserve, and in 1981 as a World Heritage Site. 

Places we’ll visit: Hurricane Ridge, Rialto Beach, Ruby Beach, Hoh Rainforest, First Beach (among others), Quillayute Rainforest, Sol Duc Falls, Marymere Falls, Madison Falls, Lake Crescent, and more.

What You’ll learn: A variety of techniques for capturing natural landscapes, and techniques for using tripods and filters properly. We will have classroom sessions on Lightroom, Photoshop and photography technique. Nighttime techniques for capturing pinpoint stars and star trails (weather permitting of course). Long exposure techniques.

This workshop will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 14th and end after dinner on Monday, August 19th.

You may stay wherever you wish however the workshop will be based at The Olympic Suites Inn in Forks, Washington. A block of rooms is being held under Kenny McKeithan Photography. Kenny McKeithan Photography holds permits to conduct photography workshops in Olympic National Park

  • Each student is responsible for his or her own airfare, ground transportation, meals, and lodging.
  • We will carpool as much as possible from our hotel to the shooting locations.
  • You may stay wherever you wish however the workshop will be based at The Olympic Suites Inn in Forks, Washington. A block of rooms is being held under Kenny McKeithan Photography.   • Full amount must be paid by July 31, 2024
  • Deadline for registrations is July 31, 2024 
  • If you choose to pay the deopsit you will be sent a PayPal invoice for the remaining balance on or about July 15th, 2024
  • You should plan to fly into and out of Seattle, Wa. which is a four hour drive to Forks, Wa. Due to the drive time between Seattle and Forks and available flight times it may be wise to consider flying in on Tuesday, August 13 to give yourself plenty of time. 
  • We highly recommend travel insurance! Be sure to read the cancellation policy before you complete your registration.
